SO, YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW TO WHITELIST...
Unwanted emails are a major pain. Inboxes fill up quickly enough with the stuff we do want. It’s for that reason email services have made their spam filters more sensitive.
A good thing, we can probably agree, but if you’ve spent any time on Earth, you’ve probably noticed that nothing is perfect. Sometimes, amazing content, like free stuff and competitions from writers of weird content you love, can end up there too. That, as we like to say in England, is rubbish.
The good news is, Whitelisting emails makes sure that you get the emails you want while preventing spam coming in from the others.
Here’s a few popular email applications and how you can whitelist an email address in them…
Gmail
Add me to your Gmail Contacts List:
Alternately, drag the email from the Promotions/Updates folder into the Primary folder. Gmail should then ask if you'd like to do that with all future emails from me. (Say "Yes"!)
Yahoo
Set up a filter to my email address in your inbox:
Outlook 2003/2007
Add my email address to your Safe Senders list:
Outlook considers email IDs added to contacts to be safe, too. Add [email protected] to your contact list in Outlook. Just open the email you received from me, right-clicking the From address, and selecting “Add To Contacts”. You can also access your Address Book via the tools drop-down menu.
Hotmail
Add my email address to your Hotmail Safe List:
If the mailing is in your “Junk E-Mail Folder”, open the email and click the “Not Junk” button!
Check that [email protected] is not in your Blocked Senders list. Access the Blocked Senders list by moving to Options, Junk E-Mail Protection and then Blocked Senders List. If you see an email address that shouldn’t be a part of this list, (like mine - hint, hint) select it and click the Remove button.
Others
The most common way to whitelist an email address is by adding it to the address book, white list or safe list in the email app. However, there is no standard method and it might differ from application to application.
If you do not find such an option, you will need to contact the support team of your email app and they’ll surely be able to help you with this.
We hope these hints will help you whitelist my email address in your email app, so you don’t miss a thing!
Cheers,
Marc
